Forget the X Factor and don’t even mention Britain’s Got Talent!
In the 1970s Opportunity Knocks was the only programme showcasing the very best new acts that the UK had to offer and Berni Flint was its most popular musical star.

His record of 12 straight wins on the phenomenally popular show in 1977 catapulted the former Royal Navy sailor into the living rooms of over 20 million people a night and ever since Berni has enjoyed a successful career playing to a devoted fan base all over Britain.
Self-penned hit record ‘I Don't Want To Put A Hold On You’ won the hearts of the nation and Berni went overnight from playing wine bars for £5 an evening to sharing the Top Of The Pops bill with Abba and Boney M … and being mobbed by girls every time he took to the stage. Since then he has spent three decades on the road honing his craft and his new double album is a statement of intent because though lightning never strikes twice, opportunity has a habit of presenting itself more frequently.
Steeped in the classic American song-writing tradition but with a sound that he has made entirely his own, one CD is of acoustic ballads and another of good time medleys, all performed in Berni’s inimitable style.
‘Opportunity Strikes Twice’ is a perfect response to the latest generation of here today, gone tomorrow TV singers and this very special double album is set to remind the British public why they fell in love with Berni in the first place.
